kejriwal and Mamata vs Modi

  1. In West Bengal army was deployed on December 1 at the toll plazas as a part of its routine exercise which has been going on for the last 15-20 years. Even last year it was held on November 19 to 21.
  2. The soldiers were placed at the Hooghly bridge toll booth to gather statistical data about load carriers that could be made available to the Army in case of a contingency.
  3. It is noteworthy that India-Bangladesh border has been a zone of insurgency and various other anti national activities. So Army watch is crucial.
  4. The row over Army taking over road toll plazas in West Bengal echoed in Parliament with Trinamool Congress seeing sinister designs behind the move.
  5. Defence minister Manohar Parrikar denied any political angle to the deployment and confirmed that it was a routine exercise  which was conducted in full knowledge of the local authorities.
  6. If all this was a routine exercise then why is Mamata as the opposition making such a hue and cry over this?
  7. In an earlier unconnected incident, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had hit out at the central government over the transfer of two senior bureaucrats because it was done without consulting the AAP government.
  8. He had then also lamented that the centre is interfering and trying to take over the functioning of the state government.
  9. In January 2014, Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues, spent the night on the pavement as a sign of protest.
  10. On December 1, 2016 Mamata Banerjee learning the tricks of protest from the ally Kejriwal, refused to leave the office and spent the night there only.
  11. So far, it used to be felt that the grievance of Kejriwal was justified because as the Delhi CM, he was not allow to work properly and there was a constant centre interference.
  12. But what about Mamata Banerjee? West Bengal has got full statehood and has little union interference, then why this drama?
  13. Moreover, the demonetization has affected every state, but why only Mamata and Kejriwal are trying to showcase themselves as the biggest protectors of the public interest?
  14. Why not other CMs like Nitish Kumar, Jayalalitha or anyone from her party, congress CMs from Utttrakhand etc protesting so much?
  15. Actually, Mamata Banerjee or Arvind Kejriwal’s grievances are not much against the government or its policies, but its personal, against Modi.
  16. Perhaps both are trying to showcase themselves as a leader of the united opposition for the future loksabha elections in 2019.
  17. Both are trying their best to project themselves as the biggest Modi opponent so that the voters have a choice in 2019.
  18. UP elections are on their way and if BJP wins UP 2017, the 2019 battle is almost won by it. So before the UP elections, Modi policies are being publicized as draconian and anti people.
  19. If Modi loses UP, Opposition would unite and look for a leader of national presence to counter Modi at the centre and there Mamata and Kejriwal are trying to fit themselves in!
  20. Mulayam, Maya, Lalu, Rahul and others are perceived as incompetent and corrupt and are already rejected by the voters to play any significant role at the centre.
  21. So for the Kejri-Banerji duo, the issue in not De-mone-tization but it is De-Modi-tization! Anyhow!
