2016 politics

  1. 2016 is about to expire in few days but the year has been politically happening due to variety of events across the Nation.
  2. The year started with Pakistani cowardliness when on January 2, 2016 a heavily armed group of terrorist belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station in Punjab, leading to martyrdom of 7 Indian soldiers and leading to the breakdown of India-Pakistan relations.
  3. It didn’t stop here.
  4. on 18 September 2016, four heavily armed terrorists attacked an army base near the town Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. It was reported as the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades.
  5. Jaise-e-Mohammad, a Paksitan based, Pakistan supported militant group is behind both of them.
  6. Later on, India’s Surgical strike across the LoC was been a befitting reply to cross border terrorists.
  7. Though different from terrorism, Pollution is another deadly killer and the entire Delhi is victim of the same. The Delhi CM put Odd Even formula in order to even out the odd life in Delhi.
  8. The year has been particularly bad for the centre state relations. Misuse of President Rule was seen frequently and Article 356 was imposed in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh.
  9. In other states like Jammu and Kashmir, the situation had became worse due to other reasons.
  10. Since July 2016, Jammu and Kashmir has been undergoing continuous unrest following the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani.
  11. The killing sparked violent protests against the government in the valley, leading to death of atleast 87 civilians and injuring many.
  12. The year has not been so good for the female politicians of the country. Leading ones lost something or the another.
  13. Anandiben Patel lost the Chief Ministership, Smriti Irani lost her disproportionate ministerial post, Tamilnadu CM Jayalitha lost life, former UP CM Mayawati lost her money and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee lost her mental balance!
  14. As far as mental balance is concerned, UP’s Azam Khan and MP’s Digvijay chauhan come in the same category. Azam khan had called Bulandsahar rape incident a conspiracy and Digvijay is itself a conspiracy against India!
  15. The year has also been significant with respect to rights of women in general as they got some of their due rights.
  16. Women have been allowed to enter Trimbakeshwar Shiva temple of Nashik, Shani Shingnapur temple of Ahmednagar, Eidgah Aishbagh of Lucknow, and In a landmark decision by the Bombay High Court, women have been allowed inside the inner sanctum of Mumbai’s Haji Ali Dargah.
  17. Moreover on December 7, triple talaq was held unconstitutional by The Allahabad High Court.
  18. The court held that the Muslim law in the country are contrary to teachings of Quran and the Prophet and Constitution is supreme over personal laws of any community.
  19. In the Assembly elections held in 2016 in WB, Assam, Kerala, TN, Puducherry, Trinammol congress, BJP, CPI(M) and congress had their own share of victory.
  20. It has also been a year of Forgiveness to enemies, forgetfulness of disputes and formation a strong alliances.
  21. PM Modi is such a binding force that decade old enemies like the left and the TMC agreed to work together. Earlier Nitish and Lalu had also joined together against the same.
  22. The year also proved that fact that no relation is beyond the quest for power. The ongoing yadav family feud in UP where one sees a son revolting against the father and the uncle proves the point.
  23. Most importantly, with demonetization, the role of money power in the election has reduced considerably. The future polls in the states like Punjab and UP are expected to be less influenced by money power in the ways as earlier.
  24. The year has been year of startups as well, both economic and political.
  25. On one hand, new parties like Swaraj Abhiyaan by former AAP members, Awaaz-e-Punjab by Sidhu and Manipur’s Iron Lady Irom sharmila’s People’s Resurgence Justice Alliance came into being, on the other hand the left parties had their own startup, Kanhaiya kumar of JNU !
  26. The guy demanded Kashmir’s azadi and took a lot of shame on himself that Afzal guru was killed and his killers (the state) are alive. Others must be feeling the same for him!
  27. He also must be concerned about the freedom of speech of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s was being curtailed.
  28. Sonia’s viability and congress’s liability, Rahul Gandhi was found sleeping  in Parliament during  the discussion on the issue of dalit atrocities in Madhya Pradesh’s Una district.
  29. The strength of the ruling party is more due to the weakness of the opposition.
  30. BJP has found an interesting opposition in Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The anti modi sentiment got so high in Kejriwal that he even said that PM can get him killed.
  31. Not only from outside but BJP leadership found itself cornered due to insider Swamy’s Vitriolic speeches against almost everyone including RBI’s former governor Raghuram Rajan. Shatrughan sinha or shotgun is the BJP’s another Achilles heel.
  32. The most surprising political event in the year is not domestic but international. Donald Trump!
  33. Trump’s victory must have given India’s rejected politicians a ray of hope and have strengthened their belief that Politics is an art of possible!
