sixth heart of asia conference

  1. The 6th Heart of Asia (HoA) conference was recently held on December 4, 2016 in Amritsar, India.
  2. The participants recognized terrorism as the biggest threat to peace of the region
  3. HoA provides a platform to the various stakeholders in the region around Afghanistan to help it in its journey towards peace from a country who was once ruled by Taliban.
  4. The region in general and Afghanistan in particular has grave security situation due to the high levels of violence caused by the Taliban, ISIS and and various terrorist organizations like the Haqqani Network, Al Qaida, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan(IMU), East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM), Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad(JeM), Tehreek-e-Taliban of Pakistan(TTP), Jamaat-ul-Ahrar(JuA), Jundullah and others.
  5. India being the neighbor, the ripples of violence are felt and serious security concerns are raised here too.
  6. PM Modi said that the growing arc of terrorist violence is posing the gravest threat to the region and has called for resolute action not just against forces of terrorism but also against those who support, shelter, train and finance them.
  7. Without naming anyone, he singled out the country against whom the action should be taken.
  8. Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani said that Taliban can’t stand even for a day without Pakistan’s support.
  9. Interestingly Pakistan had also participated in the conference.
  10. However the members renewed their commitment to strengthen cooperation and intensify their efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms.
  11. Problem is bigger because of it’s state sponsorship but what is it’s source?
  12. Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of religious, ideological and political aims.
  13. It has become more dangerous because of the state sponsorship to terrorism, i.e. a country supporting a terrorist organization to achieve any of its objectives.
  14. Pakistan aims to achieve multiple objectives through its sponsorship to terrorism.
  15. She is well aware that it can’t defeat India in a full fledge war situation, so a proxy war, i.e. through dummies like terrorist groups is the better alternative.
  16. The day dream to have Kashmir one day doesn’t let Pakistan sleep the whole night. It is one of the aims.
  17. To take the revenge of Bangladesh liberation war in which India liberated East Pakistan in 1971 to create Bangladesh is the another aim of Pakistani establishment.
  18. And to attack India’s integrity, it want to create a similar situation in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, West Bengal and other Indian states which would be similar to what was created in East Pakistan in 1970s.
  19. Unfortunately, the vote bank politics has made Pakistan’s job easy. Some Indian leaders can go any extent for electoral victory and appease minorities who are not even Indians but have illegally immigrated and creating disturbances inside.
  20. There are sleeper cells across the nation, who work on the orders of their masters situated in Islamabad and elsewhere in Pakistan and mock at Indian political unity!
  21. If India is vulnerable to terrorism, it is not much from outside but from inside, from the sympathizers of terrorists like Burhan wani, Yakub Memon, Afzal guru and many of his chelas!
  22. More than international conferences like Heart of Asia, it is the Heart of Indian politics which hurts India the most and is addressed the least.
